We celebrated our 4th year wedding anniversary by going to Hermanus for the weekend. The weather wasnt great but we had a great time. We stayed at 78 on 5th which is a lovely B&B in Hermanus. It was a nice breakaway for both of us. Something we have to do alot more next year.
Last Friday, Michelle, Anneke (Michelles Appy) and myself went to David Guetta. Was a really interesting evening. Really felt kind of old at that concert. The average age must have been 18. Are we the only people our age who like that kind of music. Can’t be.
Stanford our driver picked us up and took us to the concert which was at Thunder City by the airport. It was this massive aircraft hanger. Traffic getting there was a nightmare, but some hair raising got us to the concert quickly even if we nearly had a couple of near fatal accidents. As soon as we arrived the heavens opened and it really pissed down with rain.
We stood inside listening to some really heavy music, trying to spot anyone over 30 years old. There were very few over 30. Thankfully they were serving alcohol but at a stiff price. Some of us (not mentioning any names) had way too much and became a human wrecking ball (no it wasnt me). So I spent most of the night policing her.
When David Guetta and Akon came on they were brilliant. The special effects were also awesome and we had a great time.
We left quite early, as one of them was really out of it and need to get some sleep before work the next day.
Still had a great time and enjoyed it.
We went away this last weekend to Night Sky which is a gorgeous caravan and camping park in Bonnievale, Western Cape. Mich and I headed off with Malcolm and Vanessa, & Mike and Lorraine. It was a fantastic weekend.
With reports that the weather was going to be freezing, we packed for the antarctic. The place was stunning and it isn’t that far from Cape Town, so its definitely a place we will go to again. We quickly pitched our tent and got ready to enjoy a nice relaxing drink by the lake. Just a note about our tent, it was tiny compared to the colossal erection (tent I mean) that Malcolm and Vanessa had. Mike and Lorraine took a chalet next to us. A wise choice. Time to buy a bigger tent. We had a great poitjie the first night. Need to get that recipe. The rest of the night went downhill from there. Everyone had too much to drink, so clearly the second night we were there, no one was in the mood for drinking.
The next morning we woke up with headaches from hell. Mike and Lorraine had to go to McGregor to do some shopping. The rest of us made breakfast and headed off to see what Bonnievale had to offer. Bonnievale nothing much to say, because it had nothing to offer besides a very bad and bumpy road, which was making us all very car sick and to add to the hangover, this wasn’t good. We made our way to Robertson and ended up Klipdrift factory. We tasted some different types of Klippies which absolutely killed my throat. After that interesting experience we headed off to taste some wine. We stopped off at Bon Courage and tasted two glasses of wine, got bored and moved onto Van Loveren, only to find out that they closed at 1pm and it was 2pm. Went back to the campsite at 2pm, had lunch and went for an afternoon nap. That evening we had a braai and went to bed very early.
Sunday woke up to a stunning sunrise. See the photos. It looked like a photography club weekend away. Everyone was clicking away. Made a really nice fried breakfast. Packed up and came home.
Great weekend away. Lessons learnt: need a bigger tent and a larger mattress to sleep on. Thanks guys for a great weekend.
